Just Before the Wedding

Just Before the Wedding

written by: Lois Perch Villemaire

Catching our breath
in the crisp scented air
seated in the front row
on white folding chairs

we admire the view—
a gazebo decorated
with white roses
beside a weeping willow
sparking fountain lake
horizon of pine trees.

Family and friends
filling up rows behind.
In a few moments
the bride and groom
will recite words of devotion

March winds calm
clouds part
revealing blue skies
prayers answered
sunlight warms our hearts
shines on their faces.
