Ladybugs

Ladybugs

written by: Timothy A. Agnew

i asked you once
to
ease
my
embroiled
sentiment
to
make sense
of
senselessness
for
propagation
of hope
then
about
your
encumbered spirit
your
shadow
of
nonchalance
as
the
sky
burned above the sea
ripping
the cement apart below
disassembling
assemblage
i asked you once
to
understand why
instead
of
rain
a
bitter
wind
suffocated
the ladybugs
who
only
sought reconciliation
against
nefarious
pests
crawling free
over
emaciated faces
then
why
a
furnace wind
sent
the occupants
fleeing
from
the occupied
while
ghost children
ran
barefoot
seeking shelter
yet
disappeared
like
roaming mongrels
i asked you
then
never
again
