The Magic Circle

The days are getting brighter

this year. I have one

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

Illustration description: Yellow dawn over a darkened plain, mountains looming in the distance. The haiku sits top and center in white “Segoe Script Bold” font outlined in black. In the foreground, a figure with long-black hair in a black dress kneels in the center of a subtly burning circle, seeming to explore the ground within the circle. White, forked lightning erupts out of the ground around them. Their skin is luminous with shadows of blue, midtones of yellow-green, and edges of fire. The outline of the figure is edged with a pale, glowing aura, which also dances around the edge of the circle.
