Moonbather

Moonbather

written by: Sharlot Ivanov

The sun within me extinguished
When I married the moon
A celebration of my demise
Witnessed by stars, delivered too soon

Round-faced beauties, we are alike
Luna, my love, and I
Desolate in the face of solitude
A background to the naked eye

O Clair de lune, how you glimmer
Over these frigid waters
Allow me to shine once more
Like I did when the sky spoke azure

I shan’t ever see the bright sphere of life
As long as I bathe in your spotlight
Because my last flicker of hope died
When I married the moon that night
