Mr. Death is Waiting

Mr. Death is Waiting

written by: Kenneth Vincent Walker

I’d much rather be late
I’m not quite ready yet.
Mr. Death can just wait

As I’m dragging my feet
Across a rough carpet.
I’d much rather be late

Should it end this way.
Oh, there are no regrets
Mr. Death can just wait.

Albeit my fateful day
Never again shall I fret.
I’d much rather be late

For my memorial wake,
In paying some respect
Mr. Death can just wait

On the portico patiently.
He shan’t die of neglect.
I’d much rather be late
Mr. Death can just wait.
