No, poetry by Dr. Ratan Ghosh at Spillwords.com

No

No

written by: Ratan Ghosh

No left, no right
No top, no bottom
No middle, no edge
No light, no darkness
No past, no future
No front, no behind
I’m born in ‘No!’
Only ‘No’
No, no, no!
Only no!
Only ‘No’ makes me and my life, I know
Only ‘No’ designs the self and the me
I’m born to be in ‘No!’
I’m bound to survive in ‘No!’
I’m born to be Second, Third, Fourth or more, I know
in my home
In my ancestral homeland
And in every other place I go
I am a good slave
I can’t speak
I can just nod my head and bow down
I only can say ‘Yes’ or ‘No’
I am a good slave
A slave like Blacks of US
I’m a good slave even in my grave
I am a good slave
for my ancestral faith
for my years-old belief
or for my skin or origin
I’m a good slave in my homeland
I can’t have tears
I can’t have ears
I can’t have pain
I’m just a bearer
I can’t weep even in silence
I am a good slave like a dog, cat, cow or goat
I wait like a pet
I stand by the legs of my masters playing my tail for a scrap of food
I milk against the will denying my calf
I am a good slave in my homeland
I know, I have been a good slave!
