Out of Respect

Out of Respect

A winter tale I’m up to tell
as the sun rises beyond this fleece,
Keeping us warm, making us shiver
with the cold embrace
of its plush-content filling.
A winter tale I’m telling now,
A “once upon a time one”
it’s finally there, it’s finally over,
Why does this go just the way it should,
Contributing to your plan
which was so good!
such a great master plan!
Now I can’t hate even myself
and the world shouldn’t be over.

What am I, eight?
I should have probably written
things like this back in the times
when things were tougher and looked the same
but somehow I had some other badass plan,
You fought it with your kind and with the other things around
making us both sick and tired
With anything we have become.

We want to drop dead,
It’s the honourable way.
We’d rather disappear from your world
With or without the shame.
you’re making us sick but somehow
you’re the good guys here…
You make us work for you
and, like pigs, expect that to be enough,
You still expect us to be too proud…
Proud of what?
You’d be, if I may ask
if things were to go quite the other way around?
We want to drop dead,
We’re sick and tired of your ways.
Everything was for pigs who obviously never dared…
when you look around you they are the ones who mean nothing today.
respectable things with weapons just ready to kill
You still expect us to be too proud…
Of what, if I may ask?
We can love you just as much,
just like you can love us
We like who we’ve become…
Out of respect
that can be so goddamn great and loud.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

War has got us tired of the news and the images of atrocities. We’d all love to live in a better world. It seems, though, that there are those who can’t conceive their happiness without destruction. Perhaps taking it only on old buildings is the worst one can do… still, taking down an old building where life created more room for disease to thrive may be the healthiest solution.
