Pin Drop

Pin Drop

written by: Deirdre Carney

I have heard
No pin drop
No music of the spheres

Nor seen
A mirage in the desert
And no shooting star

I have tasted
No nectar, ambrosia
Nor vintage wine

I have touched
No fine silk
No orchid petals

I have smelt
No frankincense, myrrh
Nor fresh-plucked peach.

But I have
Heard your laugh
Seen your eyes
Tasted your tears
Touched your bright curls
Smelt the grass
Under our heads.

And I have traced
Your beautiful mouth
With a fingertip
Then blown softly
Until a smile bloomed
On your so-loved face.
