for stuart sherman
he said I don’t read poetry
there’s something about poetry that irks me
so he wrote a poem about it
to let the world know how he felt
and moved an object
of my choice
NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:
Stuart Sherman who died in 2001. He created a unique form of theatre/performances he called spectacles. They involved the manipulation of common objects. He was also a film/video maker, visual artist and poet. In a documentary on Sherman by Deacon an interviewee made the comment about poetry irking him.
