Poor Child

Your lips are like a cracked muddy surface
Dry and rough wretched from a hungry night
No wonder you wear such an angry face
Your burdens have shadowed your days light

Your eyes are swallowed in like a gorge
Sadness has found a home in them
Flogging upon your soul a scourge
O what a pity! Sorrows are all you tame

Your lips are a dead symbol of dreams
A void of hopelessness they impart
Yet none can tell your silent screams
Or hear the echoes of your lonely heart

Your pain bearing eyes are like a tainted arrow
Piercing on hearts of humanity to no avail
Barring you from the joys of a better tomorrow
Wailing as you tread this life too exquisitely frail
