Red, a poem by Jackie Chou at Spillwords.com

Red

Red

written by: Jackie Chou

I’ve always been wary of
the color red
It sticks out like a signpost
in the middle of a road
warning me to stop
not proceed
for danger is ahead

Drawn to your lips
I sought a warm heart
with a matching hue
only to find a black soul
under the crimson glow
of your skin
your blue woes and green envy
