River Water

I look to you –
you
tell me the sun and the stars
are the same
a lie
to suit your own needs
which have nothing to do with belief
or with blame
a river
takes two steps toward me
today
and I let the cool, crisp, and clean
water
cleanse my soul
knowing
you were there, are
here now
and will forever be my home
