Shipwrecked

Shipwrecked

written by: Jackie Figueroa

Though we survived,
And made it to the other side,
We landed with oceans in between,
Sails all but torn at the seams.

We may have weathered the storm,
Our connection forever worn,
And the vessel that watched us grow,
Lies shipwrecked on opposite shores.

Yet every now and again,
A glimmer breaks through:
A message in a bottle,
A ghostly trace of you.

For what has been lost,
Is not gone for good;
Just scattered in currents,
Like driftwood and shoulds.
