Star Gazers

Star Gazers

written by: Monika Ajay Kaul

The dandelion, a burst of defiance,
pushes through cracked pavement.
Not bloom, but a thousand farewells
each filament a whispered wish
on the wind’s breath.

The moon, a bruised pearl,
bleeds light onto the upturned faces
of wildflowers, a silent communion.
We are made of stardust, they murmur,
and to stardust we shall return.

A meteor streaks across the velvet dark,
a fleeting spark, a celestial sigh.
In that whispered brilliance,
a lifetime seen, a life yet to be.

The dandelion’s seeds, carried aloft,
parachutes of hope on the inky canvas.
We yearn for the light, yearn to rise,
even as we are bound to this earth,
this cradle, this tomb.
