The Lonely Hour
written by: Sarfraz Ahmed
There is a loneliness
So deep that it penetrates
To the heart of you
Spreads so deep
Enters your sleep
Nightmares crackle and break
Ache in the middle of the night
Floorboards creak
As the murderer
Walks in your home
In the lonely hour
You’re left defenceless and alone
Panic stricken to the bone
In the lonely hour
Drains you of your power
Left waiting
For the sun to come up
For all of it to stop
But it carries on
Until it breaks you
Makes you come undone
Until it has killed you
Once again
All that’s left is the pain
That remains
Until the lonely hour
Comes back again
