Tseghi Overlook

Tseghi Overlook

written by: Carlos Valle

In the beauty and stillness
Of an autumn afternoon
Stands a scarecrow all alone
In the middle of the corn field
Fallow and adorned with powdered snow
And the pallid green grass is trembling
In the cold embrace of the wind
And ravens’ soft rattle is heard
From the cottonwood trees
By the dry riverbed
Where two Indian horses are moving
Slowly towards home
The canyon is deep
The day half asleep
A day in November
A day to remember
As long as the poet
Has breath
