Winter’s Appalling Curse

a haunting sigh
Ho ho forgotten
winter’s chill stilled
ghosts steal joy
icicle fingers
the night’s breath harsh
beware yuletide
silent night voiceless
carols sung in vain
footsteps in snow
memories long-gone
specters embrace
tinsel tarnished
pixeled lights flicker
laughter silent
souls dare to dream
Krampus steals glee
his horns aglow
nutmeg dreams hushed
mischief’s grin looming
beware, beware
