Your Words of Love

Your Words of Love

written by: Marieta Maglas

I seem to have overlooked
your tender words of love,
those sentiments inscribed in the sand,
only to be washed away by the first wave.
Do you remember, my darling?
I have sealed them tightly with that final kiss.
Then, following that, another kiss,
another exotic shore,
and yet another sensation,
an autumnal feeling
that filled my emptiness.
Amidst corals and shells,
dried by the sea winds,
I awaken as I trace my lost footsteps,
carried by the waves and
redirected to the vast unknown of the sea,
that great eternal expanse.
I still love you, I love you even more,
and I miss you deeply.
Indeed, I still yearn for you,
and I come to understand that
all I can do now is to nestle close
to the moonlit sands,
which feel like a silken, worn dress
against my skin.
As I touch it,
I find myself choosing oblivion,
wishing to kiss your silvered temple
again and again, but in return,
I only receive the kiss of our child.
