Soulless Soul

Soulless Soul

written by: Natalia Aeschliman

I write paintings with my pen
Because my hands long for art but can’t paint
I whisper your name to the vast sky
Because my heart longs for what doesn’t exist
I am dying inside
But I appear healthy and well
With a spark of mischief in my eye
Oh, how I’ve learned to hide pain so well…
My inner screams wake me up at night
Along with the spirits of what could’ve been but never was,
What could’ve been finished but now is forgotten…
Enveloped by the flames of nothingness
The rage, the fear, the darkness of the soulless night, soulless soul…
It’s summer outside, bright sun, green as can be, but on the inside is always winter, hollow, frozen, yet still in that darkness captivating beauty…
Calling your name out to the dark moon..
Of something that could’ve been,
but never was…
