Safe Place to Land

On cold days, when the world gets heavy,
I hope for peace to bloom in my heart
Like a rose bud waiting for winter,
Ready to bless our eyes as the dark lingers.

Sometimes, hope takes a little longer
To take root in my broken heart;
Perhaps the fissures are too deep
For a seed to grow from the start.

But life has taught me many a lesson
And persistence is only one of them,
For it’s in the darkest and loneliest of times
That I must be my own safe place to land…
