Mary Tyler Moore Wants to Name Nail Polish for OPI

For her younger self, “Let’s Finish College”
with dreams of exotic locales, her byline

buzzed over wire services back home,
the mean girls green with wonder;

revenge, a sweet little bullet from a pretty
blue gun. “Nuns In The Sun” for lazy Sundays

with golden-skinned boys under the boardwalk.
“Purple Moons” for waning tides, stale

beer drying in the sand; climbing the trellis
back into her room after curfew.

“Rose-Colored Glasses At Sunset” for her later
years. What color is regret, what shade

of remorse dark enough to cover kohl
-black sorrow? What prayers are light

enough to be carried on snowbound white
winds straight to the ear of God?
