Santa Sonnet

Santa Sonnet

written by: Rita B. Rose

He comes in the wee of Christmas morn
When all are asleep and counting their sheep
Across rooftops and lawns; deer hooves and horns
Frolic, pronk, and play—take one giant leap!

And with a HO HO HO leading the way
His beard of white and cap of red crochet
Santa Claus rides on his magical sleigh
Talking to reindeer in language of neigh

Then it’s down the chimney on every block
With a sackful of gifts for girls and boys—
Trucks, trains, dolls, smart phones, candy canes
And toys;
All are stuffed in many colorful socks

Spreading love and joy, Kris goes on his way
Vowing to return one more Christmas day.
