The Living Brush

The Living Brush

written by: Abhilash Fraizer

You painted
The most melancholic of pictures
With your eyelashes!

Life blood, blended with tears,
Oozed down and smeared
On your eyelashes.

A cascade of memories
Gushing down
Carrying ruins,
Pulled down castles of dreams,
A guitar with broken strings,
A flute with its song spilled out,
A snap, faded but beloved,
A rose, with all its petals split apart…

All merge and melt
On the tips of eyelashes,
The living brush!

The final stroke of life
Is but a gaze,
Piercing into the soul,
Painted with life blood,
Fanned and dried
With the last breath.

A gaze, stilled and frozen,
A precious museum piece,
A prized antique image…

But the eyelashes?

Everyone who gazed at it
Felt them moving
And painting on their soul
An image with pulsating,
Warm, red, life blood!
