Borrowed Time

Borrowed Time

written by: Dclamo

I almost died today
Courtesy of a fleeing goon, and a flaying matchete
Headed toward my direction,
I won’t lie, I was scared
Scared is an understatement,
I was terrified!
But not at the thought,
Of a matchete midway my skull,
But because I feared
time had caught up,
Before I caught up to life.

The time I’d borrowed had come to claim
Penance for the waste I’ve made
With a gift, only a few are given
So at 4 in the morning, I went back to bed
To rethink my steps,
Ever since I was old enough,
To walk

My Life didn’t flash before my eyes,
Because I’ve lived no life
Almost 2 decades old,
But I have nothing to show for
Bound by thoughts and opinion,
Of members of society,
I have lived a glass half full
Trying to please and appease
People who give me no mind
Forgetting the mere fact,
Of living on borrowed time

So to all I boldly say,
We die once but live every day,
Wake up and pray
Go out and play,
Live life fully day after day,
Learn to fall, learn to fly
Learn to laugh, learn to cry
For time doesn’t snooze
Time doesn’t lose
Time doesn’t wait
Time doesn’t bait
It keeps on going
And is never late

Rid all the torment
Live in the moment
Enjoy the ride
And do so with pride
For you’ve had the leisure,
You’ve had the pleasure,
Of living on borrowed time
