Formication

Formication

written by: Snigdha Saxena

I walk out of the room,
their gaze follows, tactile.
A formication
reaching first for my hands,
then creeping
in my lean, languid legs.

The dermatologist
lifts a magnifying lens,
stares longer,
a liniment for the skin,
a referral,
while the stylets
gnaw bone.

I bottle their gaze,
lid screwed tight,
proof for the pharmacist,
who calls it empty.

I go back to the room,
this time I knock.
