They’re All Dead

It’s over
They say
It’s over
The clouds finally part
After hours of mockery
The sun hurries back
Noticing his watch is three hours late
Enough to shed light
But not to save
The seventeen lost
On a sickening day
They came
So sudden
They came
Uninvited
To destroy
They came
To finalize
The day
Clouds of thick green
Sweeping over the plains
Funnels of black smoke
Trees, homes
And her heart
Did they choke
Moments piled
Upon everlasting
It seemed
The world would surely
Tear apart
Just when
You couldn’t grip
Their hands any tighter
The train pulls out
The station
But all the passengers
Are dead
