The free born knight is a force in his own right
He fears no foe wherever he may go
He has looked Death in the face and kept pace
There are demons that haunt, his war stories he does not flaunt

A third born son to his merit has nothing to inherit
With nothing to lose any path he may choose
Taking gemutlichkeit to a new height
The free born knight is a force in his own right

The right to bear arms he did dare
Making his name on the battlefields of fame
Many times a tourney champion the crowds cheer and chime
He fears no foe wherever he may go

A knight during the day, a courtier at night
Many a peer has fallen that he held dear
Death has whispered in his ear telling him to fear
He has looked Death in the face and kept pace

The faces of fallen foes on his mind have left traces
With their eyes glazed over he claimed his prize
Most often taking their steed after he has done the deed
There are demons that haunt, his war stories he does not flaunt
