Of The Sea

Of The Sea

written by: Arlene Antoinette

I’ve always been afraid of the sea/ the power and the viciousness/ as a weary soul is pulled deep/ being suffocated/ being engulfed/ the sea demanding that the victim/ respects its strength.
I’ve always been afraid/ of the depth of my love for you/ your hollow emotions/ lukewarm responses/ as I sink deeper/ your icy grip/ engulfs me/ suffocates me/ I struggle to grab hold/ of something that is a bit tender/ something to entangle our humanness/ something that makes us both whole.
