It’s Time

It’s Time

It’s time to pack away my things.
My clothes, my writing stuff, my memories too.
My books, my photographs, my haphazard poems
Creeping out like cheeky children
From under the folds of my skin. It’s time
To put my home in order, pay the bills,
Make sure everything is sorted. It’s
Time to call an end to time
Wearing overcoats in bad weather
Wearing shorts in summer,
Laughing at those laughing at me. It’s time
To say goodbye to those I loved, to wave endlessly
With soft words.
