Holding Hands

Holding Hands

written by: Michelle Ayon Navajas

you took my hand,
slowly, gently

our fingers intertwined
pressed against each other
squeezed with fervent ardor
where two hands became one
then you whispered in my ear
the words I longed to hear
I giggled as a reply
my heart fluttered
my soul rejoiced
my mind shuttered
every single cell in my body
exulted triumphantly

you took my hand,
slowly, gently

with great pride
we walked,
passing by
every pair of
jealous eyes
for we were but
two souls, two hearts
united by love as one
every single cell in my body
exulted triumphantly

you took my hand,
slowly, gently
perfectly
holding hands
