Invisible People

written by: David L Painter

The side of the house on which she leaned
was smooth
and dark
she was dark.

Almost melting in
like…
chocolate in a
hot pan.

If you were not looking for her
you wouldn’t.

Perhaps that is why
she stood there
to be nothing
to be nonexistent
to lay the troubles
of the troubled
there
in the dark.

Looking
I saw her
and she breathed.
