A Note to Melancholy

A Note to Melancholy

written by: S. Akbar

Not sadness nor grief
No regrets; will not wimp.

I want to touch melancholy—
Not in a way that will destroy me.

I want to touch melancholy—
In a way that will sustain me.

I want to live in it
Grow in it
Fly away from it

Then again, I want to be in touch with it.

My skin rubbing off the hue—
I surrender.

I’m not fighting it anymore.
It can crawl up to my skin through the veins
To my guts through the blood.

I want it like a vamp—
Will be destroyed in sunlight
But will regain under the moonlight!
