“It’s over, I can’t do it anymore,” he said,
the words came crashing over my head.
there was a storm outside,
and in my heart, a crashing tide.

I took my car and left his house.
so easily he broke all our vows.
Is this real? are we really not a thing?
after always calling me his everything?
broke my heart wearing the shirt I loved the most,
while his perfume is stuck to my dress like a ghost.

“I don’t want to leave you, but I have to for my sake.
I am sorry but in front of you, I can’t act fake.”
I am destroyed, shattered, broken,
like the tree on the pavement, that’s fallen.
the storm is ripping the sky apart,
as he tore apart the love from my heart.

Winds smashed as I took a turn at the road end,
saw a couple hugging under a shop shed.
I have a beige dress similar to her teal one,
reminds me of the last time I truly had fun.

Driving past them, as the storm slows down,
I promise myself “I will get over this breakdown.”
