A Promise Turned Curse

A Promise Turned Curse

written by: Adriana M

I hope the world still whispers us to you,
each song, each street, a ghost that whispers my name.
I hope it breaks your heart,
slow-burning grief we have no right to tame.

“I’ll find you in each lifetime,” once so sweet,
became a curse you never meant to speak.
No fate, no invisible string, no stars could make us meet
Love’s final trick: to haunt permanently.

I write to trace the love that once burned bright,
to hold your letters against my chest.
But time is cruel, and time has shaped the truth —
Some hearts aren’t meant to concur beyond one time.

May time be kind, may distance make us new,
I loved you once. I hope you loved me too.
