A Winter Night

A Winter Night

Painful cold of a winter night
Stabbing deeply into our inner being
Chilling our soul to its core
Darkness alone frightens us
But this cold is different
There’s an evilness to this cold
A depravity that is cold and calculating
Exacting revenge on all that is good
We sit shivering in a solitary vacuum
Praying for daybreak
Waiting for warmth and joy that only comes
When the painful cold on a winter night
Is chased by the renewal of a spring morn
As light casts out darkness
And warmth casts out cold
Such as day casts out the night
Justice and morality to cast out depravity and evil
It has to – It must
