A Young Heart and an Old Soul

A Young Heart and an Old Soul

written by: Leena Thampi

It was drizzling the day we met,
I sat down to read you for a while
Highlighting the lines that spoke to me,
I kept a bookmark hoping to pick up where I left off.

It’s dark outside, and I could see the light in your eyes,
We tend to blink less than usual
To make the moment last longer,
After that, it’s like we never met.

I woke up every day and wished I was the favorite poem in your life
To be forever cherished, the chapters of amore,
You were woven into the fibres of my soul.
Though the favourite pages started wearing off.

Today, after decades
Here you are infinitely mine
Your presence is like a calming rain,
With the same passion it’s dripping
From your heart and touching my holy skin.
