Against Time

Against Time

written by: Akshita1776

The sun sets, to give way,
To yet another solitary day;
She sits near the window hoping still,
To somehow stop time with her quill;
To contain all her memories inside,
A piece of paper and let it hide;
Nestled amongst her layered heart,
Golden engravings on the icy art;
Her hands freeze at the thought,
That she’ll lose it all for naught;
Another day might bring the sun,
That’s dark and makes it all burn;
Who knows when the waterfalls,
Might stop their willowy calls;
And in the wait of this tragedy,
She deafened her voice with screams;
The ink bleeds through her fingertips,
To etch something, it runs and drips;
Without a guide, it only pools,
Massive blotches to confuse;
They found her sitting still,
Rigid, frozen near the window sill;
She fought throughout to defy time,
Paralyzed by it, she now lies;
I stand at the cliff she lay at, stiff
And fear that one day I,
Will face the same end as she.
