An Expression of Me

An Expression of Me

written by: Sherry Healy

I like that tree
And expression
Of me
Reaches out and up
She doesn’t care very much

She doesn’t have much to do
Just grow every day
The whole day through
Sway if she may

When a storm comes
Maybe things change
Does she like the wet
Does she fear the flashes in the sky

When darkness falls is she scared
Maybe an owl befriends her at night
Will he calm her
Or will that add freight

She closed her eyes
Bows her head
Holds her breath
Hides

Then dawn arrives
She sees with open eyes
Her fear is no more
An expression of me
