  1. Where do you originate from?

My hometown was located in a cozy sunny area called Woodlawn, Maryland. Children ran freely and safely. Little boys were sometimes mischievous, well, little girls avoided them. Honeysuckles grew in the heat of summer. We all tried to avoid the bees while I was sipping nectar from the flowers. These are my first memories to cherish.

  1. What do you cherish most about the place you call home?

Now at sixty-three years old, I am comfortable and peaceful living in a quaint area of Eldersburg, also located in Maryland. People are still kind and genuine here. Now, no longer are honeysuckles a favorite of mine. I am a true Marylander. Crabs covered with Old Bay are now my favorite yum. A good old crab feast makes for a community get together here.

  1. What ignites your creativity?

I am fortunate to have every seasonal color, sounds, scents, and such from my past and present happenings. They drive me to sit down and dream up images that I eventually put into a short or extended, snappy or emotional poem.

  1. Do you have a favorite word, and could you incorporate it into a poetic phrase?

Eloquence speaks to me, a favorite word of mine. I try to use an eloquent hand when I pen.

Eloquence, holding a puppy dog cuddled close to heart; a lady accepts the gift of paws from a gentle man if she’s truly smart.

  1. What is your pet peeve?

I, you, we must seek honesty. To avoid true honesty with one another creates division. My pet peeve is recognizing the lack of honesty. And it should be found in all words.

  1. How would you describe the essence of Sherry Healy?

I smile and laugh often for others to see, yet deep inside, I am a quiet little person, while dreaming big colors. I truly look at the world poetically. Everything is a poem.

In my mind, a leaf dropping toward the ground is a gift from the roots, or a humming bee stings to save the world with its honey.

I truly can’t help but to interpret all life in this way. I would not wish to give up this perspective on life. It is simple and good.
