Making Love to the Moon

Making Love to the Moon

written by: Ed Sams

Oh, I have made love to the mutable moon
I wooed her through May and I won her in June
The first week of May I would sing every night
And oh, how she beamed when I came into sight!
The next week I sang of the love pangs I had
And you would not believe how she looked drawn and sad.
But the third week at my small suggestion of bed,
Affronted she showed me the back of her head.
Shocked, broken-hearted I wept till the dawn,
Shouting apologies, but she was gone!
Still I knew if I waited, she’s come to me soon,
Which she did all a-smiling the first week in June.
