A Recluse’s Last Words Before Going Into Seclusion
written by: Glo Curl
Tell me when the fear is gone, tell me when we’re free
Tell me when it doesn’t matter who you want to be
Tell me when a sea of love has washed the hate away
And honest work is recognised by fair and honest pay
Tell me when the monsters have been crushed beneath the swell
Their lies and bluster drowned out by the tolling of the bell
Tell me when the soldiers have been ordered to go home
And children in the classroom no longer feel alone
Tell me when the billionaires have given up their wealth
And every country pledges to restore the Earth to health
Tell me when the bellies of the starving are all filled
Tell me when a day has passed and no blood has been spilled
I’m pulling down the shutters, I’ve stopped sharing my views
From now on I’ll surround myself with anything I choose
Don’t tempt me out by telling all, I’ll know it for a lie
But hope still burns you’ll knock and tell me one before I die
