An Ode to Frost

An Ode to Frost

written by: Shady

There’s ice on the side of the pavement,
The snow glints under the streetlights.
Cold is the day’s embrace,
The night sharpens its white knives.

Take me in your sullen arms, Lady Frost
And make us one, as I wish each day.
Let the trees strip bare,
Let the black ice shine,
As your only mercy.

I couldn’t care what the others say
I’d fancy frostbite anyday.
Your glaciers, snowstorms and icy veil
How they gladly accept my hail.

When you melt to slush;
A puddle of your own blood
My tears will fill it up
Till we become one.

For your amaranthine radiance,
Blue and white
Snow with ice,
That radiance channels to mine
