I ache to travel the world with you
I imagine your tiny hand in mine
Navigating unfamiliar skies and uncharted terrains
Places that will be etched in your mind and memories you will reminisce:
“Mama took me here,”
“Mama took me there.”
Frolicking in foreign gardens
Chasing butterflies without a care in the world
Exploring fresh play areas with renewed gusto and zeal
Slowing down to notice pigeons in a new square.
The quiet joy of sniffing vintage books
Collecting broken shells at undiscovered beaches
Bedtime stories in unacquainted rooms
Savouring pudding and porridge in unhurried condos.
The journey is delayed for now
So we make do with The Snail and the Whale
But
Just like that
One day
Some day
When the timing aligns
and we’re up and about
We will go prancing around the world in 280 days.
