When Federico Garcia Lorca attempted to explain the concept 'Duende' in a speech entitled 'Play and Theory of Duende' I became captivated with something seemingly new, but had actually been there throughout humanity. Duende is that place where 'madness and abandon often trump reason', it has the effect of burning the blood like 'powdered glass'. It's a force which compels emotion and no philosopher has explained. It is a force, prominent in poetry and this is why I have fallen in love with its power.
