Janete Cabral is a doctor and a writer based in Canterbury. She was born in Lisbon and read medicine in Scotland. She worked in New Zealand and as a ship doctor in the South Pacific, before settling down with her wife and pet family in the Southeast of England. She did a Masters in Creative Writing in 2015, following which she was a finalist at the Pulp Idol Novel Writing Competition 2018, part of Liverpool Writing on the Wall Fest. Her publications include the first chapter of her historical novel Louis & Marguerite in the Firsts 2019 anthology, her horror short story Redemption in Inwood Indiana, and her sci-fi flash fiction piece Hex in SciFi Shorts as J. Cabral-Jackson.
