I applied for art school when my youngest kids, twins, were also applying for college. I graduated in May 2023, from Maine College of Art & Design with a BFA in Painting and a Minor in Writing. While I was in school I started to research the traits of ADD, Autism, and Giftedness and how they relate to me and my struggles growing up. Being a child of the 1970 era, there was not a lot known about all of this. It was actually my kids, now adults, who thought it might be a good idea for a research project. In response to what I found, I started writing about how the traits affected me and how I learned to cope with all the difficulties I had in school, with my family, and with my life. At this time, I have not been officially diagnosed with anything. This is just me trying to learn about myself. My goal is to try to be as honest with myself as I can and maybe others will be able to relate to the struggles I have had and know they are not the only ones.
