NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR:

Illustration description: A black and white image. Cartoon spiders with large heads hang from the top edge of the image, staring at the viewer with empty eyes and tiny smiles. The centre of the image is occupied by a cartoon daisy with the same empty eyes and cute smile. The words of the haiku arch over it in black Comic Sans MS Bold Italic font. All the shapes of the image cast grainy shadows on the stark, white background, suggesting a shallow depth to the image.
