Becoming Whole

Becoming Whole

written by: Michelle McCarthy

There is a part of me that is soft,
fragile as morning light,
whispering fears into the quiet,
waiting to be held.

There is a part of me that stands tall
spine unbending, voice steady,
fierce in the face of doubt,
unwilling to be broken.

There is a part of me that sparks,
wild and untamed,
fire in my blood,
refusing to be silenced.

There is a part of me that loves,
arms open, heart unguarded,
pouring warmth into the world,
not asking for anything back.

There is a part of me that dreams,
that sees colours where others see walls,
that shapes the unformed
and breathes life into silence.

There is a part of me that is afraid,
shadowed and small,
aching to run,
but longing to be understood.

There is a part of me that is free,
untethered, self-reliant,
walking alone with steady steps,
knowing I am enough.

And so I gather them all,
not as scattered fragments,
but as the truth of who I am,
not one or the other,
but all of them at once.
