Better Days

Better Days

written by: John Drudge

The heart
When left untended
Begins to wear
The weight of silence
Like dust gathering
On forgotten shelves
As a love once bright
And vivid fades
To muted tones
And forgotten beats
In the hollow spaces
Between cold rhythms
Fragile
Weathered
And craving touch
Unspoken words
And whispers
Lost in shadows
Of quiet resilience
Stirring
In flickers of dreams
Defying desolation
With hands held in trust
Over words that mend
And do not wound
With hope
For better days
