Can’t Sleep While Someone Is in My Room

I CAN’T SLEEP WHILE
SOMEONE IS IN MY ROOM
she wrote
yet again on another
orange post-it note
and stuck it to the foot of
the bed
I FEEL SLEEPY
she wrote on another
one
and on another one,
PLEASE GET OUT
LEAVE ME ALONE
but it was her who got out
in the end and slept
in the bathroom
on the toilet
where
mother found her again
in the morning
Such findings made mother
extremely sad
and likely to call for special
help again
It was the last thing
she wanted
So she resorted to pretend
to be okay
for the rest of the day
She went back to
her room
ready to remove all the
post-it notes from the
foot of her bed
Only,
the notes were no longer
there
There was only one
with a ripped corner
and the writing on it
said,
DO NOT TAKE THE MEDICINE
MOTHER GIVES
Quickly,
she crumpled the note
put it in her mouth
chewed and swallowed
and choked a bit
That night she ran
away from home
for the
sixth time
